Paola Gamboa is a sample of what our students can do when they are fully committed. Despite hard schedule hours and being a young mom, she used all the available resources to get her diploma. She is thankful to our program and her family for all the support provided. She was one of our online students, which means she made it happen without being in any of our classes in person and it only took her 80 hours of instruction to make it happen!
“Agradezco al programa de ABQ-ALC en especial a los tutores que forman parte de el por guiarme a cumplir una meta que abrirá las puertas hacia mi futuro.
"I appreciate ABQ-ALC, INC. and all of the tutors that supported and guided me to complete this goal that opens doors to my future".
Agradezco a mi familia por siempre apoyarme y más que nada mi hija que es mi mas grande motivación y agranda el deseo de algun dia poder superarme"
"I appreciate my family for always supporting me and more than anything my daughter who is my greatest motivation and who will one day surpass me".
We're super proud of you Paola!!

Santana and his grandma joined the program and together they did a lot of work with the help of our online instructor. Even being unable to be in the classroom due to transportation problems and work, Santana was able to pull through those obstacles and obtain his diploma. After 187 hours of instruction, Santana didn’t just pass all the HiSet sections, he did it with high scores. We’re proud to say Santana is College Ready!
We’re very proud of this young man and will keep track of him to make sure we do everything we can to help him succeed professionally.
Cheers to you!!
One of ABQ-ALC’s most recent graduates, Barb Rivera, passed her high-school equivalency tests in July 2021. She was helped by ABQ-ALC teacher Samuel Enka. As she attended his online classes (because of the pandemic, classes were not held in person) she gained confidence in her ability to figure out practice tests. She asked her instructor for more and more practice tests, and he obliged. After learning from online classes and from many practice tests, she jumped at the chance to take the first GED test at CNM, which gave her the confidence to take the full number of GED tests.
Rivera’s advice for students who have not yet taken their first test and gained the confidence to know they will be passing those tests: Keep learning from the practice tests. “Don’t be discouraged by a weakness on the practice test. Use it to practice for the real test. The real test is just like the practice test.” Rivera celebrated receiving high-school equivalency by signing up for a full roster of CNM classes, including Chemistry and Chem Lab, English, pre-Calculus and Public Speaking. She is aiming for work in food manufacturing. In the past, her job prospects were limited by her lack of a high school diploma, but that is no longer the case!

Love is an incredibly dedicated student. She adapted quickly to online learning during COVID and really took advantage of the Essential Education learning program we provide for our students. Love was one of the first students in our Career Pathways pilot class. She used the first module to really think about how education can help her future, which motivated her into action.
After making some phone calls to local programs, Love plans on enrolling in a program to train to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). As her teacher, it was a real pleasure to have her in my class and I know she'll reach her goals due to how hard she worked in our program.
